A careful eye is needed by all business owners, especially over this the world cup season of TV watching.
If your business does not currently have a TV license, and the TV licensing vans detect a signal going into your premises it could mean a £1,000 fine!!! Which none of us wants and most of us cannot afford!
Can your employees access TV from their computers? Increasing technology means many can, if they do and watch ‘Live TV’ a fine of up to £1,000 can be imposed on you.
I call this a really quirky law, as if ‘repeats’ are watched no license is needed!!!!!!!!
If an employee brings their own laptop into work they can watch ‘Live’ TV – provided they do not plug it into your electricity source, it must run off a battery charged in their own home!!!!
If they do plug it into your electricity it is deemed ‘installed’ in your office and therefore you should have the TV license cost £148.50p for colour or risk a fine of up to £1,000.
